I think I’m finished with waiting for the stars to align.
I’d rather not be at the behest of their
fickle twinkling.
The Big Dipper doesn’t get to decide,
the Ram and Bear be damned—
I won’t be governed by The Celestial Body
a second longer.
I’ll snatch the signs, catch the sun
and moon rising in outstretched palms.
Be the unstoppable force that bends
them to my own will. I’ll tighten Orion’s belt
myself, if I have to.
What do fading lights, long spent,
know of mortal dealings, really?
I will tell the stars when I am ready—
they will listen,
and move accordingly.
